Black women are severely underrepresented in the occupational therapy profession, making up less than 5% of occupational therapists nationwide. Among those professionals is Monica Titus (B.S. ’93), founder and president of Impressions Pediatric Therapy. In 1993, Titus graduated from Howard University's occupational therapy Program. According to U.S. News and World Report in 2024, the program ranks as one of the top 100 best occupational therapy programs in the nation.

Every April, thousands of accepted students flock to Howard University’s campus to learn more about Howard’s rich history and to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture that makes the University a renowned institution. Through activities, campus tours and orientations hosted by the schools and colleges, students are provided an invaluable opportunity to interact with staff and their future peers.

Since 1994, Alternative Spring Break (ASB) has provided Howard students with the opportunity to serve numerous communities across the country during their spring break. This year, ASB sent more than 1,300 students to serve in 22 cities, including Buffalo, New York; Detroit; Memphis, Tennessee; and Tampa, Florida.
Howard sophomores Alexandria Fuller and Lauren McNair were both assigned to serve in Albany, Georgia. During their time in Albany, Fuller and McNair’s initiatives were redevelopment and youth holistic wellness.

Students share stories about the difference giving makes

Howard University students will benefit from the record $1.3 million raised at Charter Day Dinner 2025. Guests at the dinner — inspired by the night’s theme, “The Power of Possibility” — gave to the campaign, which raises funds that are used to clear the balances of graduating seniors, freeing them of that debt. Students in a “Charter Day Student Spotlight” video told passionately of what difference those donations made for them.
