Howard University marks a milestone with its 2024 Homecoming. “100th Homecoming: Howard University Yard of Fame” spans a week of activities for alumni making a joyous return to the Mecca.

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) has moved into Howard’s newest building on campus, The Oliver, located on Georgia Avenue, adjacent to the School of Business. The $40 million mixed-use facility symbolizes the important work of DAR in gathering people together around a common goal—supporting the greatest needs of Howard University and the community.

Homecoming was special for School (now College) of Architecture graduate Michael Heiserman in the 1960s. As an Army Corps cadet, Heiserman helped build a float for the annual parade and borrowed the car to tow it.

In honor of Howard University’s 100th Homecoming, we’re calling on you to Back the Yard! From October 13 to October 20, we’re aiming to reach 1,000 individual donors in this milestone giving challenge—and your participation is key. Sign up as an ambassador on GiveCampus, create a Personal Plea video and inspire others to give. Together, let’s make this Homecoming one for the books!

The Schwartz Family Foundation has generously donated to Howard’s GRACE program to ease the financial load for pre-med students. Grants from the Schwartz Family GRACE Scholarship Fund will aid undergraduates in their journey to medical school.
