Current HUAA Role: Region VII Chair
Cheryl Queen proudly graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and later earned her MBA from the University of Baltimore. She owns Queen Homes, LLC, a real estate development firm that owns and manages residential properties throughout Maryland.
Since 2021, Ms. Queen has served as Region VII Chair for Professional and Affiliate Alumni Clubs within the Howard University Alumni Association. Her leadership has focused on fundraising for Howard students, expanding alumni engagement through social programming, reactivating dormant clubs, and chartering new ones. Under her tenure, Region VII has become the fastest-growing region in the country, expanding from two to ten alumni clubs, including Engineering & Architecture, Fine Arts, Caribbean/West Indies, and the Rainbow Club, among others.
In 2018, Ms. Queen was selected as a Constituent Unit Presidents (CUPS) Leader, serving in a global capacity as a liaison to the HUAA Executive Committee. In this role, she gathered feedback from alumni leaders to help shape organizational policies, contributed to updates of the President’s Handbook, and established quarterly meetings for Alumni Club Presidents to strengthen communication and collaboration across the network.
Ms. Queen’s commitment to alumni leadership began in 2016 when she founded the Howard University Alumni Club of Howard County, Maryland, and served as its President until 2020. During her tenure, the club raised more than $10,000 for high-achieving Howard students. The club became widely recognized for its dynamic programming, including social events, holiday celebrations, and political forums that helped elevate African American leadership within the local community. She also launched a signature regional event, “Who’s the REAL HU,” a competitive cookout featuring a kickball game and spirited competitions between Howard University and Hampton University alumni.
Deeply rooted in the Howard legacy, Ms. Queen comes from a family of Howard graduates and is the proud mother of a current Howard University student. She is also an active member of the Columbia, Maryland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she continues her commitment to service and community impact.
