HUAA elections are coming – cast your ballot!

Voting opens soon for Howard University Alumni Association’s elections for the 2026 term. Don’t miss the opportunity to have your say in its leadership for the next two years.

For more than 60 years, from its beginnings in 1964 as the Howard University Alumni Federation, HUAA has grown to represent thousands of alumni across the United States and Canada as well as in Ghana, England, the Caribbean and the West Indies.

Offices to be filled are: president, vice president for administration, vice president for finance, vice president for membership and engagement, secretary and regional chairs. Officers serve two-year terms and may run for re-election but may not serve more than two consecutive terms.

The candidates are:

- For president: Kelli L. Jones (B.S. ’08); Byrndan D. Moore (B.S. ’96); Karen E. Shropshire (B.A. ’79; J.D. ’82)
- For vice president for administration: Cheryl B. Queen (B.A. ’96); Vikki M. Walton (BBA ’90)
- For vice president for finance: Velva Dawson (B.S. ’96); Jamaal L. Edwards (BBA ’06, MBA ’14)
- For vice president for membership and engagement: Melanie Felton (’87), Rhonda Nolen (B.S. ’91)
- For secretary: A’Donna Corbin (B.S. ’91)
- For Region I chair: Melissa R. Estrado (B.S. ’03); Theo Spencer (B.S. ’99); Kimberly Z. Wright-White (B.A. ’91)
- For Region II chair: Erica R. Lee (B.A. ’10); Lisa Robinson (B.S. ’97; M.A. ’01)
- For Region III chair: Naomie Payen (B.A. ’13); Muhammad Mahdi Salaam (B.S. ’05)
- For Region IV chair: Jarrah M. Hamer (BBA ’07)
- For Region V chair: Billie Castle (B.S. ’12); Chadrick Kennedy (B.S. ’98); Booker T. Morris IV (B.A. ’12)
- For Region VI chair: Camile Harvey (B.A. ’02)

The elections will be governed by the 2026 HUAA Elections Guidelines, and will be administered electronically by ElectionBuddy. Eligible voters may vote only once.

The voting period is from Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, April 8, ending at 11:59 p.m.
