The All Classes Reunion has been postponed until further notice.

We will be back to pass the Torch in 2021.

Howard University Class of ‘84

Director, Alumni Relations

Dear Class of 1970,

The Department of Alumni Relations is happy to acknowledge a golden milestone in Howard University’s history—the 50th Anniversary of the class of 1970.  We are living through an unprecedented time, a time which requires distance and unique gatherings as we look to recognize your legacy and commitment as Bison.   We will not let social distancing keep us from celebrating the Class of 1970 as they were the class that ushered in a new decade, questioned the status quo, and pushed the political boundaries through embracing African traditions and natural Black beauty.

As Bison, we don’t have to be physically present to honor the academic rigor and intellectual prowess poured into you during your time at Howard University. However, as a class, you have navigated many triumphs and struggles to call the “MECCA” home. We hope Bison Together will offer you a virtual environment to gather, celebrate, reminisce and support one another until we can commemorate your stellar and golden anniversary… the Class of 1970.

Congratulations continue to stay safe and we will get through this together because we are #bisonstrong!

Warm regards,

Reunion Welcome Letter

1970 Class Reunion Committee

Welcome to the Class of 1970 “virtual reunion”

As we approach our 50th Class Reunion, we remain excited about and committed to our beloved Howard University. The venue and circumstances have changed, but our hearts, love, and commitment to the Mecca remain strong and ever-present.

Since its founding in 1867, Howard University has answered the call to prepare men and women to be national and global leaders, and the Class of 1970 is no exception. This strong Howard University foundation has given us the fortitude and agility to face challenges, including the current COVID-19 crisis, with solid thinking, a servant‛s heart, and an unshakeable Howard spirit. Our class adopted the Homecoming theme “Dawning of a New Age.” Now, some 50 years later, we are facing a “New Normal” with resilience, grace, and strength born of our Howard experience.

While we await the opportunity to greet each other in person, we want to keep the enthusiasm and excitement going via multiple virtual platforms -- our Facebook page, videos, website posting and other social media outlets, and our new alumni engagement website, Bison Together. The story of our Howard life will be shared virtually, making our future in-person reunion all the more joyous.

In 2021, we will meet to share the grand memories of time spent on the HU campus and to reflect on our journey over the past 50 years.

Our highly-anticipated class reunion will be phenomenal. Stay tuned for updates, fun facts, and plans for an exciting and unforgettable weekend. Until we meet in person, please continue to serve and be uplifted by the tremendous Bison Spirit as we remain forever Howard Strong!
