The Howard University Alumni Association’s leaders gathered in the closing days of May to affirm a course for the 2024–26 term, have some fun, and launch a new service project by packing 20,000 meals for needy people in the District of Columbia.
HUAA leadership weekend, May 30–June 2, came a week after a new group of officers was elected May 21 to the administration of HUAA. Their term begins July 1. The centerpiece of the weekend was the Alumni Council meeting on May 31 and June 1 at the Armour J. Blackburn University Center.
Ahead of the Alumni Council meeting was a Rooftop Rendezvous at The Morrow Washington DC hotel on the evening of May 30, a chance for attendees to gather and relax. Another opportunity was on June 1 after the meeting at the HUAA Cookout on the terrace of the Wayne A.I. Frederick Undergraduate Library.
The weekend concluded with the inaugural Alumni Day of Service. HUAA, in partnership with the relief organization U.S. Hunger and financial services company Citi, provided the opportunity for volunteers to support hungry families in D.C.
