Bison Strong makes strides for seniors

Class of 2026 graduate Neranti Gary

By Kelvin Childs

A grateful cohort of graduating seniors benefited from generous donations to Bison Strong from Start to Finish, which made it possible for them to graduate on time.

Bison Strong Start to Finish raises money for the Howard University Alumni Association Emergency Scholarship Fund, which is available to current students in any class year. Those who have demonstrated financial need may turn to the HUAA Emergency Scholarship Fund for help.

Grants awarded through the HUAA Emergency Scholarship Fund are a lifeline for promising students at risk of having to interrupt their studies because of monetary pressures. Seniors near graduation can apply to the HUAA Emergency Scholarship Fund for a grant to clear outstanding balances on their accounts with the University.

The benefits to students from the fund are multifold, enhancing retention rates, persistence rates and graduation rates. Students are more likely to remain enrolled, complete their course of study and attain their degree.

This initiative is a key way Howard graduates, through the Howard University Alumni Association, exercise their commitment to build out the potential of the students who follow them. Bison alumni reach back to aid future graduates in their pursuit of academic excellence and professional standing.

Our seniors made The Long Walk on Graduation Day, but the need is ongoing and the campaign continues. Your support can make a real difference to a student’s future.
