A proud graduate of Howard’s School of Business, Class of 1990, Dr. Vikki Walton brings a business, policy, and operational lens to her service within the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA). She currently works for a global consulting corporation as a senior growth leader. Her professional career spans more than 20 years in complex corporate environments, with leadership experience in consulting, healthcare public policy, enterprise and business strategy, health equity, and leading national and cross-functional teams. An author and nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Walton has been featured in professional journals and national publications for her work and is frequently invited to speak on leadership, health equity, and public policy. Her professional contributions have been recognized through multiple awards for leadership and excellence. Known for her collaborative leadership style, colleagues and partners often note that when you meet Dr. Walton, you immediately want to work with her.

Dr. Walton currently serves as the Region IV Chair for HUAA, representing alumni clubs across the Midwest and Eastern Canada (IL, OH, MI, IN, MO, KS, MN, WI, ON). During her tenure, she led the first regional expansion into Canada, successfully chartering the Eastern Canada Alumni Club and establishing Region IV’s first international club. She was also instrumental in reestablishing inactive clubs across the Region, strengthening continuity, sustainability, and regional reach, while elevating the visibility of Bison excellence throughout the Region.

Under her leadership, Region IV clubs were elevated through a deliberate focus on the HUAA pillars of Scholarship and Philanthropy, Service, and Engagement, supported by a strong foundation of operational excellence, the platform on which she is running. She helped to advance signature regional initiatives and events that strengthened alumni engagement, increased philanthropic impact, and deepened meaningful connections with Howard and its alumni. As one Region IV club president shared, “Dr. Walton is a leader presidents trust. She listens, follows through, and elevates those she serves. Under her leadership, Region IV clubs became more connected and engaged with our alumni, and better positioned to advance Scholarship and Philanthropy, Service, and Engagement.”

In recognition of her leadership and impact, she was honored as Region Chair of the Year for 2024 to 2025, a recognition of her ability to unite people, deliver results, and move initiatives forward with clarity and purpose. These strengths align directly with the responsibilities of the VP of Administration, a role that requires discipline, structure, and the ability to support HUAA’s internal functions with consistency and care.

Her service to HUAA reflects a sustained progression of leadership. Dr. Walton has served as the twice-elected President of the HUAC of NW Indiana, and CUP, serving on the HUAA Executive Committee, as well as a Region Rep. This experience across club, regional, and national levels demonstrates her deep understanding of HUAA governance, internal operations, and organizational effectiveness.

Her dedication to service extends beyond her professional role and Howard’s leadership. Dr. Walton serves as Board Chair for the American Red Cross in NW Indiana and holds leadership roles with the Urban League, where she chairs the Legislative, Regulatory, Policy, and Health Committees. She is an active and engaged member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, serving on numerous committees.
