Cheryl Queen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Howard University and an MBA from University of Baltimore. Cheryl is the Owner of Queen Homes, LLC, a real estate development firm that owns and manages residential properties throughout Maryland.
LEADERSHIP, HOWARD UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Chair, Region VII
Since 2021, Cheryl has served as Region VII Chair for HU’s Professional and Affiliate Alumni Clubs. Her leadership focuses on fundraising for HU students, social events for alumni, reactivation of dormant clubs, and the chartering of new alumni clubs.
Under her tenure, Region VII has become the fastest-growing region in the country, expanding from two to ten alumni clubs, including Engineering & Architecture, Fine Arts, Caribbean/West Indies, Rainbow Club, and others.
Leader, Club Presidents
In 2018, Cheryl was appointed as a Constituent Unit Presidents (CUPS) Leader, serving in a global capacity as liaison to the HUAA Executive Committee. In this role, she:
- Gathered and presented alumni club feedback to help shape policies
- Updated the President’s Handbook
- Established quarterly meetings for Alumni Club Presidents worldwide
Club President
In 2016, Ms. Queen founded the HU Alumni Club of Howard County, Maryland, serving as President until 2020. During her leadership, the club:
- Raised over $10,000 for high-achieving Howard University students
- Hosted signature events including political forums, holiday celebrations, happy hours
- Helped foster civic engagement that contributed to African Americans filling key leadership positions locally for the first time
- Launched the Regional cookout, “Who’s the REAL HU,” featuring spirited competitions of kickball games and card games between Howard and Hampton Universities
Legacy & Community
Cheryl Queen proudly “BLEEDS BLUE,” representing a strong family legacy of graduates from Howard University — where her son is currently a student.
Ms. Queen is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Columbia, Maryland Alumnae Chapter).
Under her leadership, Region VII grew from two to ten clubs, making it the fastest-growing region in the country.
