Unrestricted gifts offer flexibility, stability
Launching their “20 for 20” giving campaign, the 137 Privy line of Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. set an example of unrestricted giving through a bold and ambitious goal of $20,000 to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. They surpassed the goal, raising $23,814 in unrestricted funds to the Impact Howard Fund.
Howard University meets its greatest needs when it receives unrestricted gifts from donors. When you give funds without restrictions, the University can address immediate challenges that impact student success, faculty research, campus operations and improvements to facilities and laboratories.
“As we mark 20 years since our initiation into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, at Howard University, our hearts were pulled back to the place that nurtured our dreams, affirmed our identity and bound us in sisterhood,” said Danielle K. Perry, Esq. (’06, HUSL ’09). “Howard has always been where possibility takes root. It's where future leaders are shaped, supported and set free to soar,” she added.
Whether you give individually or through a fraternity or sorority, unrestricted donations allow the University flexibility and stability. The example set by the AKA 137 Privy line for their 20th Anniversary serves as a reminder to donors of another way to help the University meet its greatest needs.
“Giving back to the University in a way that strengthens its foundation and fuels its highest needs felt like the most meaningful tribute to all it has given us. This gift is our love letter to Howard, to our community and to the generations who will walk this path after us,” Perry said.
As you reflect on the many ways to give to Howard, consider donations that allow the University to determine how best to make the greatest impact for students, faculty, the campus and its community. To learn more about unrestricted donations, visit here
