Golden Reunion Weekend 2026: A legacy celebrated

By Lauren Ivey

Howard University’s Golden Reunion Weekend 2026 was a powerful celebration of legacy, leadership, and the enduring bond shared by generations of Bison. From May 7–10, alumni from the Classes of 1976, 1971, 1966, 1961 and 1956 returned to the Yard for a weekend marked by reflection, reconnection, and renewed commitment to the future of their alma mater.

Throughout the weekend, classmates embraced cherished traditions, rekindled lifelong friendships, and created new memories through fellowship events, special recognitions, and Commencement festivities. A defining highlight was the returning of the passing of the torch and the historic procession of the Class of 1976, who marched in commemorative regalia in honor of 50 years since their Howard graduation, which was a moving tribute to five decades of impact, excellence, and service.

Yet beyond the celebration, Golden Reunion once again demonstrated the extraordinary generosity of Howard alumni. Each class rallied together in support of current and future students, helping to strengthen scholarships, academic initiatives, and the University’s long-term success.
