Howard University provides an opportunity for alumni to nominate Alumni Trustee candidates to serve on the University's Board of Trustees. To be eligible, a nominee for Alumni Trustee must: (i) hold an earned degree from a college or school of the University; (ii) not be a full-time employee of the University or a current student of the University; and (iii) have demonstrated a sustained and/ or substantial commitment to the advancement of the University since the award date of the degree.

The department of Alumni Relations and the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA) are responsible for developing a slate of candidates to be considered and elected by the general alumni population to be put forth for consideration to the Board of Trustees to serve as Alumni Trustee. The HUAA Nominating Committee will review the nominees to determine the slate using the following criteria: (i) Contributions to Howard University, (ii) demonstrated leadership in the nominees community, profession and or public service.

Alumni must use the official Nomination Credentials Form for Alumni Trustee to nominate individuals for the position, which will be available beginning Wednesday January 22, 2020. In addition to the information requested on the Nominations Credential Form please provide a statement explaining why the nominee will be an asset to the Board of Trustees and a biographical overview of the nominee.

Nominations must be received no later than Thursday, February 20th, 2020 at 5:00pm EST.
